Aditya Narayan – The New Indian Express

MUMBAI: Singer Aditya Narayan, who recently released his new song ‘Mangta Hai Kya’, says he is quite demanding with his singing and manages to maintain quality control as the music is not a way for him to make money.
Her last song “Mangta Hai Kya” was a recreated version of the original which was part of the movie “Rangeela”. Interestingly, Aditya was only 6 years old when he debuted as a singer in this film with the title track.
In conversation with IANS, Aditya said: “It was like a blast of memory. ‘Rangeela’ was the first movie I did reading for, that too mister Rahman’s composition. I didn’t know nothing to take music seriously, fame, fame… everything really. It was just that, ‘mazaa aa raha tha, every time I sang ‘yaar mere paas to aayo, mera mushkil durr bhagao’ and everything everyone said I looked so cute, including Asha ji! Life has changed for me as a singer, host and performer since then!”
Although he gave some of the hit songs as a playback singer like ‘Ishqyaun Dhishqyaun’, ‘Tattad Tattad’, ‘Mera Naam Kizzie’, Aditya does not sing more often.
Asked about the reason behind that, the singer replied, “Well, the singing playing space has changed and every year there are more than 200 singers everywhere. Whether it’s reality shows, live concerts, social media… there’s a Plus there’s music labels with their contractual obligations, and I’m fighting against that too If you’re not a singer, signed by a music label, chances are you won’t get a song. But as a creative mind, what if I don’t like the song? And if I’m not from agreement with all the terms and conditions of the contract? It’s a complicated space.
Taking stock of his TV career as a host, Aditya also mentioned, “I earn my bread and butter from my hosting career. So, I don’t have to compromise on my music. Music is my first love, so I can’t compromise on that, it hurts. You see, back when my dad (veteran playback singer Udit Narayan) and his colleagues were at the top of their game, their only source of income was recording and performing live. So sometimes even if they didn’t like a song, they had to sing, because they had no other way to earn money.”
“We have several avenues, especially TV shows, hosting, content creation, etc. So I can be choosy about my music,” Aditya concluded.
The recreated version of ‘Mangta Hai Kya’ is composed by Chirantan Bhatt and produced by Tips Music.
