America’s Most Influential Music Cities: Where Cincinnati Is Ranked

Move on, Nashville. There is a new city of music: Cincinnati.

According to a recent 888 Casino study, Cincinnati is ranked the seventh most influential music city in the United States and the most influential city in Ohio.

The study looked at the birthplaces of the 1,000 most “influential” American artists, examining how many of their songs were sampled, remixed, and covered in other commercialized songs to uncover the American cities with the greatest musical influence. .

Ranked seventh overall, Cincinnati edged out Hoboken, New Jersey, in eighth place and just behind Atlanta in sixth. New York and Los Angeles took the top two spots.

Statewide, Cincinnati ranked first, with other Ohio cities Cleveland, London and Dayton ranked second to fourth.

Research has ranked The Isley Brothers as Cincinnati’s most influential music group, with their tracks sampled, covered and remixed into songs that have marketed 1,130 times, more than any other band or musician in town.

James Brown’s band, the JB’s, are ranked as Cincinnati’s second most influential band, with 918 samples, covers and remixes. With over 8,500 samples, covers and remixes, James Brown has also been ranked as America’s Most Influential Artist.
