Terri Fox of the Dennis Historical Society will lead a walking tour through the sacred grounds of the Sea Captains’ Cemetery at South Dennis Congressional Church. Stops on the tour will include the War of Independence section, the grave of the first permanent pastor of the South Parish Meeting House, and other highlights.

The Unitarian Universalist Falmouth’s Not Your Average Arts & Crafts Fair will feature a range of items for sale, artisans, the congregation and the community. Opening reception for ‘A New Reality’

Miller White Fine Arts is hosting an opening reception for “A New Reality,” a solo exhibition of digital collages in the abstract tradition of artist Deborah Forman. The reception will follow CDC guidelines and will take place outside in the garden and tent with a limited number of guests in the gallery at a time. The exhibition runs from August 6 to 27.

Artist reception for ‘Rétro-Active’

Preservation Hall will host an artists reception for “Retro-Active”, an exhibition by longtime Wellfleet resident Daniel Ranalli. The show focuses on the work done on Cape Cod over the past 20 years. Ranalli’s work is often characterized as conceptual and / or environmental and is frequently rooted in the balance between control and chance, like a snail’s path in the sand of the tide. The exhibition runs until August 22 and hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and by appointment.

Celebrate unity in the community

Residents are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to Barnstable’s fifth annual Unity Day celebration, which aims to welcome and engage the community and local police in a fun and inclusive celebration. Breakaway X-GRILL will be on site again this year cooking burgers and hot dogs. The event will feature ice cream, music, dancing and activities for all ages. The day is hosted by People of Action, the Barnstable Police Department and the Town of Barnstable.

Ruthie Foster brings the blues

Singer Ruthie Foster will perform at the Payomet Performing Arts Center. She developed her sound with the influence of actors like Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin. His latest album, “Live at the Paramount”, received a 2021 Grammy Award nomination in the Best Contemporary Blues category.

Leslie Mendelson at the Music Room

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Leslie Mendelson will perform at the Music Room which will feature music from her most recent studio album, “If You Can’t Say Anything Nice …” released in April 2020, as well as than an acoustic EP solo, “In The Meantime”. Author’s conference “Entre marées”
