By Vince Sullivan (May 24, 2022, 5:01 p.m. EDT) — Three Roman Catholic dioceses are pushing for approval of settlements for hundreds of sex abuse claims in bankruptcy courts, a judge in a State of Delaware denied a judicial stay in a non-bankruptcy, potentially signaling a crackdown, and Purdue Pharma executives got their bounties approved. It’s bankruptcy week.

Led by a New York bankruptcy judge and after nearly a year of intense mediation, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester has proposed a $147 million settlement with its insurers to resolve coverage disputes for 471 claims for sexual abuse filed against the organization.
