LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) –Grammy-winning singer Christina Aguilera will receive the music icon’s inaugural honor at the People’s Choice Awards next week, the producers said on Wednesday.

Aguilera will be honored for her “contributions to the music industry and her illustrious career”.

The award will be presented by Becky G during Tuesday’s ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Aguilera will also perform “an unreleased medley of his greatest songs” during the ceremony.

“There’s a reason Christina Aguilera is called ‘the voice of our generation,’ Jen Neal, executive vice president of NBCUniversal Entertainment Television and Streaming, said in a statement.“ She not only has an amazing voice, but as a creator she produces music that evokes true emotion and resonates through so many different demographics Christina is an idol and we can’t wait to celebrate her successes and present her with the top Music Icon award.

In addition to Aguilera’s musical achievements, she is also being honored for her work as the global representative of Yum! Hunger relief in the brand world.
