It looks like Pierre Capaldi is taking on the Daleks and Cybermen to take on the Billboard charts. Monks Road Records has announced that the star will release a new album of original music in November, his first adventure in the world of new music and a whole new kind of adventure for an actor known for time traveling and talking about fiction. The politicians.
Capaldi has maintained a musical presence throughout his acting career, not only bringing his musical prowess to his role as Twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who, wearing sunglasses and shredding on an electric guitar, but also appearing in the music video for “Someone You Loved,†the 2018 single by Lewis capaldi, one of his distant cousins. But this is the first time since his punk years in art school – in which his band The Dreamboys released a single before going their separate ways because “nobody was interested” – that he has broken down. attacked his own original compositions.
The new album, titled Saint Christopher, is the result of Capaldi’s work with The monkeys of the blow in 2019, when the singer Dr Robert invited the actor to perform during a recording session for their album Humanism, and encourages him to try writing his own music for the first time in almost forty years:
“Watching the musicians work, something prompted me to doodle a song, just for the chance to get them to play, and when they did, I immediately knew it was something that I wanted to do it again. So, I got down to it. Robert patiently endured these efforts, encouraging some, letting others go quietly, until we finally felt that we had enough ideas to get in. in the studio… And then it was in March 2020 and everything stopped. We had demos, computers, Robert’s address book and a very clear agenda, so thanks to the magic of modern technology, we swapped the tracks until finally, with the help of brilliant musicians, we came up with something that felt like an album.
The album is led by a single of the same name, “St. Christopher”, named after a saint rejected by the Vatican in the 1960s, but which people have never really forgotten. Capaldi professed at the BBC Chris hawkins that he does not see himself as a musician, but rather that being on stage as an actor or performing as a musician are two completely different experiences for him – rather than being “at the service of the voice of the world.” ‘author’ with a play or film, writing and playing music allows him to ‘generate [his] own type of worldview â€to share with the public.
Saint Christopher will be available to stream worldwide on November 19, and physical copies can be pre-ordered through Monks Road Records’ website. Fans can now listen to the single of the same name wherever music is available.
