(Cambridge, MA – October 14, 2021) A quarter of a century after first showcasing his leading talents as modern pop hitmakers Sixpence None The Richer, Leigh nash is about to perform solo at Club Passim. In the ’90s, Nash and his band mates released two megahits, including Grammy-nominated “Kiss Me” and “There She Goes.” Nash will take to the Passim Stage on Tuesday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Local rising star Kaiti Jones will open the show. Tickets start at $ 25 and are available on Passim.org.
Nash continues to define herself as a singer, songwriter and collaborator, this time through a collection of six duet songs titled The Tide, Vol. 1, released in September. Her instantly recognizable vocal styles blend seamlessly with the partners she has brought together for this ensemble, including country music icons. Tanya tucker and Vince gill, moving vocal power Amanfu Ruby, legend of gospel music CeCe Winans, leader of the Mavericks Raul Malo, and Nash’s husband and longtime creative partner Stephen wilson jr.
Nash officially started her music career singing country music and learning old country songs on the guitar when she was just 12 years old. In the early 90s, she met Matt Slocum and together formed the group Sixpence None The Richer. The group was then nominated for two Grammy Awards. She recorded the song “Need to Be Next to You,†written by famous songwriter Diane Warren, for the 2000 film Bounce, which became Nash’s first solo single.
The changing landscape of pop music and the world at large has given Nash the time and perspective to continue to hone his creativity, take bigger swings, and gain confidence as a songwriter.
“What I have found true with my songwriting is that I seem to serve a story or song best when it’s something that happened naturally with me, like a meeting or a conversation,” she says. “I didn’t necessarily write them for this project. It’s a collection of songs that I have had, which are my favorite, and which did not yet have their due.
“So this is an exciting opportunity for me to bring them out and work with some of my heroes as well.”
Leigh Nash will perform at Club Passim on Tuesday, November 2 at 8 p.m. with special guest Kaiti Jones. Tickets cost $ 25 ($ 23 for Passim members) and are available on passim.org or at the club 30 minutes before the show. Club Passim is located at 47 Palmer St, Cambridge, MA
