Mokokchung, November 12 (EMN): James Basnet, winner of several international awards, has released his latest album of contemporary Christian music entitled “Beginning”.
Basnet, who was on the verge of suicide at the age of 16, has led the cult for more than 20 years. He is currently a worship pastor at City Light Church and lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA with his wife Imlinaro and children. He travels across the United States to train and teach cult leaders.
Her latest album “Beginning” is a product of love and the result of a five-year journey in the making. It was recorded with multi-Grammy Award-winning music producer Glenn Tabor at Gat3 Productions, Charlotte North Carolina in the USA.
The album features incredible talent including the Tetseo sisters, Nelson Rios (Forest Hill Church Music Director), Luke Anderson (Elevation Church), Brad Hudson (Vocal Director, Elevation Church) and Jeremy Medkiff.
The album’s song “Superhero” was written for an NGO dedicated to rescuing trafficked children.
There’s something for everyone on the album. The song “Sold Out” is a foot tapping number that will have listeners dancing and is very reminiscent of 80s funk style.
Similarly to the other songs on the album, a lot has gone into each song and their particular message, making this a collective album that is not only very enjoyable but also deeply personal.

The song ‘Heal our Land’ has a special place in the artist’s heart as it is a song dedicated to Nagaland. The song features Tetseo Sisters who lent their unique folk tune and was recorded by Mhaseve MKT at Li Tsale Records, Kohima, Nagaland. “Heal our land” was written for Nagaland during a particularly turbulent time in the state.
A message from Tetso Sisters says, “We love the message of the song. When Basnet told us he was writing a song for the healing of our Earth, we were quick to say yes to the collaboration. We all need some personal healing and our earth definitely needs complete healing which can only be done by the Divine Healer. We believe that this beautiful song by James Basnet will definitely be a soothing balm for listeners around the world and especially for our Nagaland and we hope it will bring Glory to God from whom the music comes. Since the song is centered around Nagaland, we were delighted and honored to add our Naga touch to the song. The folk part of Chokri praises and testifies that God is the ultimate healer and proclaims that his name be lifted higher.
Basnet hopes that through this album, people will connect and worship God more intimately and that every listener will be blessed, while hoping to hear testimonies of these songs being sung in churches around the world.
“Beginning” by James Basnet is available on several platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube.
