Jason Hook, Former Five Finger Death Punch Guitarist, Finds the “Right” Vocalist for His New Band

[ad_1]
Old FIVE-FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason crochet spoke to “Make waves” podcast on his new project for which he has been writing music for two years. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “This is the only diary that I have had, really, since my departure FATAL PUNCH. I always work with the same team of people at [record label] Better noise [Music] and [management company] Tenth street. I just went straight to work writing songs. I have 30, 35 songs. And they’ve heard a lot of material, and they’re excited about it. Where I get stuck is that I have had a lot of singers and I really try to be patient in picking the right guy. They were like, ‘Don’t be in a hurry to choose your singer. Make sure you find the right guy. And I don’t disagree with that because that is really the decisive factor. So that’s the top priority right now. “
He continued, “I did my job. I prepared all the material; some are finished songs, some are just music. But I really want to find a co-author, a partner, someone. ‘one that I have that chemistry with and we’re both on the same page musically. I’m easy. That’s the only element that’s missing. “
When asked what kind of singer he was looking for, To hang up said, “I like heavy music, but I also like melodic music. And I think that’s one of the things that [FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer] Ivan moody was fantastic, is that he sells his lyrics, he can sing very well, and he can get heavy but you can still read what he is talking about; you can follow the scenario. It’s not like that throaty [death metal-style vocal]; you can really understand what he is saying even when he sings with his heavy voice. And Ivan moody don’t just grow on trees [laughs]; it’s hard to find.
“I like guys like Dave Grohl“, he added.” I certainly like Corey taylor. I always loved Adam gontierthe voice of, of THREE DAYS GRACE; these first records and the power and grain of his voice. But most importantly, I’m just looking for someone who has something above and beyond, something magical. There are a lot of good guys out there – I’ve certainly had some here – but I’m looking for something magical, not just good. “
To hang up went on to say that he wasn’t just trying to launch another version of his old band. “I’m not necessarily trying to recreate FIVE-FINGER DEATH PUNCH“he said.” This group is an anomaly, and I think it would be stupid to try to clone it. The music will have familiar sounds and elements of this they or they sounds like, but that’s only because I had a decent enough hand to write this music. So it’s inevitable that I’ll take myself here, and it’s going to have a certain familiarity, obviously. But when it comes to a singer, it’s kind of like when Tom morello find Chris Cornell, you have two guys who are extremely good at their roles; which was destined to succeed. Now when Eddie Van Halen had Sammy Hagar, they were very lucky because it clicked, it worked. But when they have Gary Cherone – not so cool. “
In October 2020, FIVE-FINGER DEATH PUNCH confirmed that he had officially split from To hang up eight months earlier during the group’s sold-out European tour. He has since been replaced by a renowned British virtuoso Andy james, which appears on “Broken world”, a song that appeared in the second part of FIVE-FINGER DEATH PUNCHthe collection of the greatest hits of, “A Decade of Destruction – Volume 2”.
After recovering from emergency gallbladder surgery at the end of 2019, To hang up had to leave halfway through the group’s tour of Europe to face further complications.
Jason, who joined FIVE-FINGER DEATH PUNCH in 2009, said of his exit from the group: “As to why I’m leaving… well, there isn’t really one. it’s good that I can here. It’s time to hand over the baton and move on to new challenges. ”
