K-pop boy group Stray Kids’ Han tests positive for Covid-19 amid album promotions – Reuters

Han, a member of K-pop idol group Stray Kids, tested positive for Covid-19 a day after the release of the group’s new album.

“We are informing you that Stray Kids member Han tested positive for Covid-19 today. [Saturday, March 19]“, announced JYP Entertainment, the agency of Stray Kids.

The agency said, “On the afternoon of March 18, Han took a PCR [polymerase chain reaction] test as a preventative measure and tested positive on March 19.

“Han received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. and as he is currently showing no symptoms, he is being quarantined in accordance with the guidelines of the disease prevention authorities,” he added.

According to the agency, the six members of Stray Kids “except Changbin and Han tested negative on their PCR tests and they have been staying in separate living areas since the afternoon of March 18.”

“All members will continue to focus on personal hygiene and monitor their health,” he said.

Stray Kids made their comeback on March 18 with the release of their new mini album “Oddinary,” which sold 496,125 copies on its first day, according to Hanteo Chart.

Maroo Entertainment announced on March 19 that Ghost9 member Lee Jinwoo tested positive for Covid-19 after members Junhyung and Kangsung were diagnosed with the disease.

Han and Jinwoo are the latest Korean celebrities to be diagnosed with Covid-19 as South Korea continues to see a spike in cases due to the Omicron variant.

On March 19, South Korea recorded 381,454 new cases of Covid-19 to bring the total of confirmed cases to 9.03 million.

Recent Covid-19 infections include ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo, NMIXX’s Jinni and Kim Dong-wan. At least 232 Korean celebrities have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since January 19.

Meanwhile, TOMORROW X TOGETHER member Soobin “has fully recovered from Covid-19 and his quarantine” ended on March 18, according to Big Hit Music.

“Soobin self-administered at home as directed by health authorities and showed no extraordinary symptoms. With her quarantine over, Soobin can resume her activities starting today,” the agency said.
