LAMB OF GOD’S ART CRUZ Names His Favorite METALLICA Song

In a brand new interview with RadioactiveMike Zhost of 96.7 KCAL-FM radio program “Hardwired in the Empire”, LAMB OF GOD drummer Art Cruz he was asked to name his favorite METALLIC song. He said: “My era of jumping in METALLIC has been ‘Puppeteer’, realistically. It was the disc that attracted me first. ‘Damages, Inc.’ is really good; I love this song. Of course you can always say ‘Puppeteer’but ‘Battery’ – definitely in my top three METALLIC songs of all time. But ‘Damages, Inc.’ – I think ‘Damages, Inc.’ is right there as one of my favorites.”
Cross filled in for the original LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler on several tours of the group before being named Adler‘s official replacement in July 2019. Cross has already cut his teeth WINDS OF PLAGUE and TOOTH.
Last month, LAMB OF GOD bass player John Campbell Told Wani in metal that it was “incredible” to play with Cross on 2020 self-titled album and upcoming “omens” LP. “This is the second record with Art“He said. “He’s been in the band for five years now, so I guess he’s got another five years before he’s not the new one anymore. But it’s great. Art is an amazing guy. He has great positive energy. He’s a fierce drummer. It has taste and style. It’s great to play with him. It brings a dynamic to the band that we didn’t have before. His hands are amazing, his feet are amazing, and he just has taste and style.”
About what Crossthe style of play of has added to the LAMB OF GOD sound, John said: “I think he brought more of a… ‘swing’ is the wrong word. [He has] less rigid approach to the battery. He came to play drums and listen to heavy metal listening and trying to play with LAMB OF GODor try to play LAMB OF GOD Songs. He is therefore well imbued with it, almost as if he were a double before he knew it. So I think he just brings a continuation of what we’ve been doing, but with his softness, with his touch that’s very unique to him.”
“omens” will arrive on October 7 via Epic Records. The band followed the LP with a longtime collaborator Josh Wilbour (CORN, MEGADETH) live in the room together at Henson Recording Studios (Previously A&M Studios) in Los Angeles, California, a place that gave birth to the classics of THE DOORS, FLOYD ROSE, RAMONES and SOUND GARDENamong others.
LAMB OF GOD supports the new album with a huge nation live– produced a US headlining tour with special guests KILLSWITCH COMMITMENT on all dates. Different legs also see the support of BARONESS, IMMOBILE IN WHITE, SPIRITBOX, ANIMALS AS LEADERS as good as SUICIDE SILENCE and VOUCHER FOR AN AUTOPSY. The tour kicked off September 9 in Brooklyn and will run through October 20.
