Wynonna Judd struggles to survive her first Mother’s Day without her mother Naomi Judd as she reminisces about their fondest memories.

On Sunday, the 57-year-old singer, who performed with her mother in legendary country duo The Judds, posted a throwback photo of Naomi and Ashley Judd. Naomi died last weekend at the age of 76.

Naomi, with wonderfully blown out red hair as usual, can be seen cuddling Wynonna with one arm while holding Ashley with the other in the summery pic.

“I miss her,” Wynonna said in the photo description.

Ashley, who also shared the photo on Instagram as part of her own tribute to her mother, revealed in the photo’s caption that it was taken in the girls’ home state of Kentucky, Little Cat Creek.

Ashley opened up about Naomi’s openness about her ongoing mental health struggles in a recent Mother’s Day column for USA Today. The 54-year-old actress described the struggles as “Naomi bore the scars of a life of injustices that began when she was a child. Ever since she was a woman.”

“My mom was an amazing parent under duress,” Ashley continued. “She showed my sister and me the power of having a voice and using it, and there was no greater lesson.

Tragically, Naomi died just a day before her and Wynonna’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame as The Judds. Before presenting Naomi and Wynonna with the Stagecoach honor, Country Music Hall of Fame CEO Kyle Young spoke briefly about their music.

“We can never know all of their struggles, but we know all of their songs,” he said. “Their stories have been well documented, Naomi and Wynonna, a mother and daughter forced together and forged together. It’s all complicated – and it all came out in beauty and triumph.”

Wynonna and Ashley accepted the trophy on stage with tears, to thunderous cheers and the support of the audience.

They said their hearts were broken and yet blessed to know that their mother was loved and appreciated.

Multiple sources told People that country singer Naomi Judd committed suicide, but neither her family nor her management have verified it.

The family declined to release information but implored the public to respect their privacy during this heartbreaking time.

Judd is a longtime mental health advocate.

In her 2016 book, “River of Time: My Descent Into Depression and How I Emerged With Hope,” she was candid about her mental health struggles, leaving no doubt that she had fought demons and yet this could not be noticed when she was performing.
