HipHopDX is back with another edition of New Music Friday, a weekly roundup of the best fresh Hip Hop and R&B albums.

With Thanksgiving around the corner and the New Year drawing ever closer, this mid-November list features artists pumping up a little more heat as the weather continues to cool. Kicking off this week is West Coast rapper Roddy Ricch with the third installment of his Feed the streets series.

From there we head to Memphis where Key Glock honors his late cousin Young Dolph with PRE5L a year after his tragic death. Also included on this list is BROCKHAMPTON’s Familytheir supposed last album, the new Destroy Lonely, a Busta Rhymes EP and much more.

Roddy Ritch- Feeding the streets 3

Roddy Ricch rose through the rap ranks at a breakneck pace. His Feeding the streets II helped propel him from a homegrown influence in Compton to a real force to be reckoned with. But it was his verse on Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle” and Please excuse me for being antisocial which proved that Ricch was capable of performing at the highest level in all of Hip Hop.

After a lukewarm reception to his 2021 project LIVE LIFE FAST, Ricch vowed to prove the fans right. His last album, Feeding the streets 3aims to do just that: refocus the “Ballin’” rapper as one of the most elite in the game.

Glock key – PRE5L

Key Glock and Young Dolph were one of the most exuberant and exciting duos in all of rap. Their natural chemistry oozed from the music, revealing that the two rappers, also cousins, shared an intense bond. After Dolph’s horrific murder in 2021, Glock has made it his mission to keep his legacy alive, frequently dedicating new releases to him and speaking his name whenever possible.

PRE5Lthe latest straw from rapper PRE, continues to uplift his lost partner in a way he’d know and appreciate: hard-hitting raps over trunk-slamming beats.

BROCKHAMPTON- Family

BROCKHAMPTON, the boy band/rap group that took off through the three volumes of SATURATION The series, which featured songs like “BLEACH”, “FACE”, “BOOGIE” and “SWEET”, launched the idea of ​​retirement. Although it looks like frontman Kevin Abstract (and potentially some of the other great team members) will continue to release solo music, their latest album, Familywill be the last of the group.

Covering 17 tracks, Family aims to end the circle the same way it began: with bouncy, exuberant raps, quick transfers and playful melodies.

Destroy lonely – NS+ (ULTRA)

When he started to emerge from the rap underground, many saw Destroy Lonely as a Playboi Carti biter. Of course, the Atlanta rapper is signed to Carti’s Opium Records, so it’s only natural that his sound would be similar. But despite their similarity, calling Destroy Lonely a clone is a gross reduction in the rapper’s ethos.

Following the release of his latest album NO STYLISTwhich featured hits such as the album’s title track, “VETERAN” featuring Ken Carson and “VTMNTSCOAT”, Lonely is now back with the deluxe edition titled NS+ (ULTRA).

Stem wave – Jupiter’s Diary: 7-Day Theory

Rod Wave is a rapper, but sometimes his booming melodic sound sounds more like the blues. All fans of the Florida MC know the songs that first broke through to him (“Heart On Ice” and later “Rags2Riches 2” featuring Lil Baby), but his discography goes way deeper than a few loose singles.

Through albums such as PTSD and gospel of the ghetto from 2019, 2020 Pray 4 Love and this year Nice spiritWave stood out from the crowd as one of the preeminent voices in gaming. Now he’s back with Jupiter’s Diary: 7-Day Theoryhis second album of 2022 which is nice and tight with eight tracks.

38 Spesh & Harry Fraud – Beyond belief

Rochester, New York-born rapper 38 Spesh is dedicated to connecting his unique contemporary sound to classic boom-bap rap styles. His appreciation for the Hip Hop canon can be clearly seen on past projects such as Inhighway 38, The trust band and Time spentwhere he rapped alongside MCs such as French Montana, Chinx, Gucci Mane, Griselda’s Benny The Butcher and many more.

On Beyond beliefSpesh’s most recent offering, the rapper has teamed up with sample producer Harry Fraud for a soundtrack that will appeal to new and old fans alike.

Busta Rhymes – The fuse is on

Before the release of Busta Rhyme’s latest drop, an EP titled The fuse is on, the 50-year-old New York legend released debut single “Slap” alongside Griselda’s Conway the Machine and one of rap’s most heralded godfathers, Big Daddy Kane.

The fuse is onaside from last year’s reissue of The arrival on its 25th anniversary, marks Busta’s first new body of work since the 2020s Extinction level event. Before that, you had to go back to 2009 Back on my BS to find new leads. Busta has been rapping and releasing music since the mid-1990s and his newfound resurgence gives hope he has no plans to stop any time soon.

Dave East & DJ Drama – book of david

Dave East is the star of his latest album Book of David. He handled the entire 17-track non-feature project, fully supported by Buda & Grandz and Mike Kuz production. But the highlight of the project is still the inclusion of Gangsta Grillz Boss DJ Drama.

DJ Drama enjoyed a career renaissance after his work on Tyler, the masterful creator CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. In the following years, Drama was on a prolific run, working with everyone from YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Dreamville to Jeezy and now New York’s Dave East.
