Obaseki and PMAN mourn highlife singer Osayomore Joseph

The Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria have mourned the passing of highlife musician Osayomore Joseph. The late singer passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
The Edo State native was considered one of the pioneers of highlife music.
In his message of condolence, Obaseki described the late Joseph as an enigmatic and versatile musician.
He said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of music maestro, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph, who took the music world by storm with his talent and exported Beninese culture to the world.
“He was an enigmatic and versatile musician, who delivered didactic messages with his moving and resonant voice.
“His contribution to the creative industry in Edo State was as remarkable as it was transformational. He was a crucial voice in the quest to make society better and more livable with his music, which focused on serious issues.
“I sympathize with the Osayomore family, fans and friends of the illustrious musician and pray that God will grant them the courage to bear this irreparable loss.”
The Edo State Chapter of PMAN also expressed sadness over Osayomore’s death.
In a statement from PMAN, the association’s administrator/governor in Edo State, Willy Eghe-Nova, expressed his sadness over the loss of the late singer. He said, “Sadly, PMAN on Saturday June 11, 2022 lost a great member and music legend, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph. May his creative soul rest in peace.
