Shelby native and music producer Mark Cabaniss takes his talents to the Big Apple.

Cabaniss is scheduled to host Jubilate: An Evening with Choral Masters at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY on July 10, 2022. This will be the first trip to Carnegie Hall for Cabaniss who has spent 32 years in the recording and performing industry. ‘editing. in Nashville, Tenn., singing everything from sacred music to secular music.

“It’s exciting for all of us,” Cabaniss said. “Performing on the Carnegie Hall stage is a dream come true. I feel like the fact that I grew up in Shelby on the Graham Elementary School stages in the Brown Auditorium gave me the right foundation.

Cabaniss was invited by Roy Hayes of True North Presents, a company that facilitates and helps bring musicians together to perform in some of the best concert halls in the United States.

“He talked to me about creating a concert featuring some of my publisher’s music, that’s how it happened.”

The repertoire will feature two works, including “The Weaver” by Ken Medema and Burly Red and “Esther: Triumph of Faith” by Mark Blankenship and Cabaniss. Singer, songwriter and trumpeter, Cabaniss is also President and CEO of Jubilate Music Group, LLC. His production company provides sheet music and recordings primarily for churches and schools where his music is performed around the world.

It will be a special event for Cabaniss who will share the stage with Mark Blankenship who inspired him to pursue a career in music while he was in his final year at Shelby High School.

“He is a very well known composer who has performed all over the world,” said Cabaniss. “I called him when he was in Nashville, Tenn., And looked for him to find out what I could from him.”

Cabaniss invites singers from Cleveland County to join him in New York. Although it is open to all singers, the choir will be limited to 250, and Cabaniss believes that places will fill up quickly. Packages are available for those who want a backstage pass and those who wish to participate can take part in a dinner cruise after the evening concert.
