Penn State Scranton’s Annual Holiday Concert to be held on December 5

DUNMORE, PA – Penn State Scranton will present a very special annual holiday concert as a gift to the community of Scranton at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 5th. at the Peoples Security Bank Theater at Lackawanna College in downtown Scranton.
This year’s holiday concert will feature three musical groups. The Penn State Scranton Choir is a mixed choir of 25 singers made up of students, faculty and staff, the Rocktet is a small mixed group of singers who perform music in a choral style, and the Campus Jazz Band consists of ‘a variety of instruments and will entertain the audience by playing holiday music, Broadway, jazz, Latin American, etc. These musical groups are under the direction of Sharon Ann Toman, associate professor of music and arts and humanities education, program coordinator, who is also the musical director of the three groups. .
“The students are very excited to be able to bring this performance to the community and this holiday concert is sure to put everyone in the holiday mood,†said Toman. “So get out there and enjoy the holiday spirit and music! ”
Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa thanked Lackawanna College for allowing Penn State Scranton to use its facilities for this event.
“We would like to thank Lackawanna College and President Jill Murray, for allowing our campus music groups to use the beautiful Peoples Security Bank Theater for our annual vacation concert, and its Vice President for College Advancement Brian Costanzo for his help with all the arrangements. necessary for this concert to take place, â€Wafa said.
Wafa also thanked Leslie Memolo Collins, President and CEO of Scranton Tomorrow, for helping bring the musical groups from Penn State Scranton to a downtown location for the first time in their history. The idea for the bands to perform at a downtown venue arose after a conversation Wafa had with Collins after a Scranton Tomorrow board meeting.

Holiday concert
In addition to the downtown concert, the Penn State Scranton Bands will also be performing their Holiday Concert for the Penn State Scranton Campus Community on Wednesday, December 8 at noon at the View Cafe at the Study Learning Center on campus, sponsored by the Penn State Scranton Music Club, with free snacks for those who attend.
