With 10 albums to their credit, Metallica have a slightly shorter discography than some other bands that have been around for four decades, but you know what they say: quality over quantity. They are the biggest metal band in the world thanks to these 10 albums, but which of them is the best?

That’s what we want to hear from you in this week’s Loudwire Nights Album of the Week poll!

You will have until Friday at 12 N ET to vote. We will then play the three songs from the album with the most votes during the Loudwire Nights Album of the Week block to start the show the following Monday!

Metallica helped launch the thrash metal movement in the Bay Area in the early 80s with their debut Kill them all. Original title Metal in your ass, the record was released via Megaforce Records after founder Jon ‘Johnny Z’ Zazula decided to take a chance. It didn’t break the Billboard 200 chart until a few years later, after the 1984 release. ride the lightning and 1986 Puppeteer, which was considered their true commercial breakthrough.

The band faced tragedy that year when bassist Cliff Burton died in Sweden in a bus accident, but they made the decision to continue and hired Jason Newsted to replace him. …And justice for all was their first album to feature Newsted, and it won them their first Grammy award in 1990 with the hit song “One”. But their 1991 self-titled track – known as The black album — was really what catapulted them into stardom. Tracks such as “Enter Sandman”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “The Unforgiven” and many more helped them expand their loyal following to a massive following, although some of their die-hard fans viewed the move as a sold-out sale.

They have since also released Charge, Recharge, St. Anger, Death Magnetic and, more recently, Wired… to self-destruct. we don’t count Lulu for the purposes of this survey since it was a collaborative effort with Lou Reed, or garage inc. since there were only covers, but you still have a great selection of records to choose from without those two.

Head below to vote for your favorite Metallica album, and tune into Loudwire Nights next Monday at 7 p.m. ET to find out which record won. During tonight’s show, you’ll find out which Pearl Jam album was voted best and hear three songs from the winner.

Loudwire Nights with Toni Gonzalez airs nightly starting at 7 p.m. ET. You can connect anytime, from anywhere here or by downloading the Loudwire app.
