Pop Montreal announces the 2021 hybrid festival's 20th anniversary lineup with SUUNS, The Besnard Lakes and Cadence Weapon

This year, Pop Montreal will be a hybrid festival, which means that the 20th anniversary of the festival will be celebrated in person and virtually. The festival runs from September 22-26 and features performances by psych-rock group SUUNS, indie-rock group The Besnard Lakes, Canadian-American rapper Cadence Weapon, Backxwash, Cakes da Killa, Vanille, The Dears and more. .

Although the festival offers many musical acts, it will also offer other cultural entertainment, such as Art Pop, which will host “the annual group exhibition as well as several satellite events which will bring live performances, sound installations and campaigns. Display in the public spaces surrounding the POP headquarters at the Rialto Theater complex Film Pop will showcase this year’s best of musical films at the film festival.

SUUNS announced their new album The witness for September 3. The group has already released their new song from the album, “Witness Projection”. The album will follow the group’s EP 2020 Fiction. The last album of the group Felt was released in 2018.

Cadence Weapon released their new album Parallel world earlier this year on April 30. Jahniya Morris of Mxdwn calls the album “a reflection of the world we live in. It is a political commentary on so many aspects of daily life that have been exposed due to the pandemic. Cadence Weapon was able to incorporate elements of their music that have worked in the past and blend them perfectly with controversial discussions. “

Les Lacs de Besnard also shared their new album this year, The Besnard lakes are the last of the major thunderstorm warnings. Selected songs from the album were performed by the band during their live broadcast from La Sala Rossa in Montreal. The group performed various songs in their two-decade long career.
