Second Street Players will present “Oliver!” on stage at the Riverfront Theater for three weekends in July.

Based on Charles Dickens’ novel, “Oliver Twist,” performances of Lionel Bart’s classic musical are scheduled Friday through Sunday, July 8-10, July 15-17, and July 22-24.

The Tony and Olivier award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win a Best Picture Oscar and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audiences alike.

The Second Street Players production is led by Melissa Brenner and Steven Haber, who are delighted to bring this masterpiece of musical theater to the Milford stage with the help and stunning vision of Music Director Chris Myers and by Maria Bagley, choreographer.

Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by old Fagin. When Oliver is captured and framed for a robbery he didn’t commit, the benevolent victim Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing for the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and friendly Nancy to kidnap him, threatening Oliver’s chances. to discover the true love of a family.

The Riverfront Theater is located at 2 South Walnut St. in Milford. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 p.m. and Sunday shows at 2 p.m. Seats are $25 with a $1 discount available for seniors, military, students, and theater members.
