A Winnipeg singer-songwriter is set to live a dream come true next week.
Three-time Juno nominee Don Amero will present a series of shows combining his roots / country / pop sound with the power of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
“You have 50 to 60 people on stage, all with the same intentions, wanting to move an audience with music,†Amero told 680 CJOB.
“Symphony is an age-old style of music, and I think when you combine that with contemporary pop, country, whatever, it takes that sound to a level… and for me, I’ve always dreamed of that. level.
“It moves the room, and it’s hard to deny when you’re at it.”

Despite accolades throughout his career – he has also purchased equipment at the Western Canadian Music Awards and the Native American Music Awards, among others – Amero said he was equally comfortable playing solo with a acoustic guitar than on the main stage of the Centennial Concert Hall with more than 2,000 seats.
“The week after doing the symphony concerts, I actually do a little house concert, just me and a guitar,†he said.
“So I do all kinds of things…. Music, for me, is the ground floor of everything – sharing music with the people who are listening. I will do it at any level from five to 500 to 5,000. It doesn’t really matter to me.
“I feel like I was given the opportunity to have a voice. It’s not at the level of Justin Bieber or Shawn Mendes, but it’s at a level where people pay attention.
