It’s time to get your head in the game and bring out your inner Wildcat for the next production of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL on the Centre’s outdoor stage, June 23-25.

After weeks of intense rehearsals and training by professional teacher artists, and under the direction of Broadway veteran L’ogan J’ones, 20 rising stars from the Great Lakes region will take to the stage performing nostalgic Disney Channel numbers. like “Stick to the Status Quo” and “Bop to the Top.”

“One of our main goals with the Rising Stars program is to provide opportunities for young actors to pursue their artistic passions and find a supportive community along the way,” said Travis Kendrick, director of theater production. and theater education at the Midland Center. “The cast and crew together have created something incredibly special and entertaining. Whether High School Musical was part of your childhood or completely new to you, this show and this talented band will leave you with a sense of excitement and spirit!”

The creative team is led by Broadway veteran and director L’ogan J’ones, a University of Michigan graduate who was one of the original actors in the Broadway hit The Spongebob Musical and Clueless Off-Broadway. He is joined by musical director Paul Helm, with regional credits such as A Charlie Brown Christmas at the First Stage Children’s Theater and Murder for Two at the Hippodrome Theatre.

The creative team is completed by choreographer Emma Lou DeLaney. His work was recently seen in the ACT of Connecticut’s production of Nickel Mines and La Mirada Theater’s The Sound of Music. Other DeLaney accomplishments include Ilse in The Lounge Theater’s Spring Awakening and Ali in Mamma Mia! from the Mill Mountain Theatre!

“The rising stars in our community have created a camaraderie that really draws you into their characters and storylines,” Kendrick added. “During the rehearsal process, each member of this production used their skills to develop an engaging experience for the audience. From the high-energy dance to the unique set design, every aspect of the show is meticulously crafted. For these two acts, drawn into the world of High School Musical.”
