‘A BIT TWISTED’: This is not your usual blues or acid rock album. Open Investigation, an acid / funk rock band from the late 60s and early 70s, explores everything from unrequited love to social consciousness. (Photo submitted)

The latest release from a local music group is a Open investigation – and the conclusion is one you won’t want to miss.

Open Investigation, a local acid rock / funk-focused local blues / rock band from the late ’60s and early’ 70s, recently released their self-titled debut album, which features melodies detailing original song topics. .

“The record touches on everything from unrequited love to social conscience,” said band member Brad Murphey. “I’m not the type to stay in the stereotype of writing rock’n’roll songs about cars, girls and drugs as a topic. Some songs can be a bit twisted, so this is by no means your regular blues or acid rock album.

Murphey said playing original music for years was something ingrained in him and his bandmates, and this new album is a celebration of their return to live music after nearly two years of inactivity due to of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We do very well in front of an audience,” said Murphey. “We get the crowd moving, so I think people will have fun listening to this record. I just have to write music, because that’s how I’m built. I am delighted to continue writing and playing music. It’s not about being famous. It’s about wanting people to be entertained by our music and to share the love of music with other people.
