The South Florida guitarist and singer-songwriter played in legendary bluesman Junior Wells before embarking on a solo career, recently releasing “Wild and Free” last year, which won a Blues Blast Music Award for the Live Blues album and was recorded in Boca. Guitarist and singer-songwriter Howson performed in the Chicago blues hub before moving to Sarasota-Manatee, and is now one of the area’s most prolific performers. Doug Deming & the Jewel Tones will perform this week at both downtown Mattison venues, Bradenton and Sarasota. Although the blues group is based in the region, they have a national fan base, earning a Blues Blast Music Award nomination for Blues Band in 2019. They also reached number three on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart for their 2018 album “Complicated Mess,†featuring guest guests including Kim Wilson and the late Little Charlie Baty. The Burke Brothers Trio, made up of singer-songwriter / guitarist Matt Burke and bassist Danny Burke, as well as guitarist Scott Anderson of Bradenton Americana Have Gun, Will Travel, are set to perform in Cottonmouth this weekend. Have Gun, Will Travel ranks among the most successful bands in Sarasota-Manatee, garnering positive reviews from outlets like NPR and No Depression and their music appearing on shows such as CBS’s “The Good Wife” and ” The Ranch â€from Netflix. Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio
Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio are broadcasting Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse this weekend, as well as the Venice Brewery Off the Wagon. The Sarasota-area rock group is led by Twinkle Schascle Yochim, who signed with Warner Bros. in the 90s, and released the album “Haunted by Real Life” under the name Schascle.
