Jah movement

Local reggae favorites Jah Movement are set to play their weekly concert at the Gator Club in downtown Sarasota and Rodney’s Jamaican Grill in Palmetto. The group includes soul singer Shantel Norman as well as Damie Caines, who used to perform with another popular reggae group in the area, Democracy, alongside his late father, Oswald Caines. Sarasota’s restaurant and blues spot, The Blue Rooster, this weekend features Central Florida guitarist and singer-songwriter David Julia. Having performed since the age of seven, Julia has already built a musical career beyond her teenage years, competing in the Memphis International Blues Challenge and winning famous fans like acclaimed blues guitarist Bob Margolin. The Charlotte County Irish Pub Celtic Ray’s live music program this weekend features Joel DaSilva. Howson performed in the Chicago blues hub before moving to Sarasota-Manatee, and now ranks among the area’s most prolific performers. Fogartyville hosts a show featuring two of Tampa Bay’s best singer-songwriters, Rebekah Pulley and Ronny Elliott. Pulley released his latest album “The Sea of ​​Everything” in 2019, with the opening track “Central Avenue: The City” paying homage to his decades-old home, St. Petersburg.
