Weymouth 400 Art & Music Festival will feature the work of local artists

WEYMOUTH – Local artists and musicians will have the chance to showcase their work at the Weymouth 400 Art and Music Festival.

The festival is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 16 at the new Tufts Library and near Weston Park.

George Raymond, president of Weymouth 400, said the organization had received money from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and Weymouth Cultural Council to support the festival. Weymouth 400 is the non-profit group tasked with marking the town’s anniversary in 2022.

“One of the goals of our organization is to showcase the work of our amazing artists and musicians. This event will allow the community of Weymouth to be proud of our town’s history and culture, ”said Raymond.

The juryed art exhibit portion of the event will feature the work of local artists on the theme ‘The Art of Weymouth – Past or Present’. Submissions in all mediums will focus on everything Weymouth related, including history, buildings and landscapes.

Prizes will be awarded for the best performance in oil and acrylic, watercolor, pastel and drawing and mixed media. First, second and third place prizes and honorable mentions will be awarded in categories with at least 18 entries.

A music festival is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. at Weston Park and will feature local musicians, food trucks and family activities.
