1:00 p.m. Mr. woman (Tito’s): A few years after starting this group which started as a side project from Kelsey Wilson to the beloved indie group Wild Child, we feel like Sir Woman can pull off a Shinyribs, much like when Kevin Russell is the current group eventually eclipsed and survived their long-standing outfit, the Gourds. It’s too early to say for sure, but for now, revel in the soulful pop vein she taps into with this sprawling ensemble.

2:20 p.m.. Surfaces (Honda): Perhaps the biggest band to ever come out of College Station, the Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki duo deliver warm pop grooves that connected enough for the band to sell out a recent Stubb show. They got so much attention for their first songs “24/7/365” and “Sunday Best” that Elton John joined them on last year’s single “Learn to Fly”.

3:30 p.m. Katie Pruitt (BMI): The Nashville-via-Atlanta Americana singer-songwriter had just released her acclaimed debut album “Expectations” in early 2020 when the pandemic struck. But she had already turned heads in Austin with live performances at South by Southwest and elsewhere. Expect Pruitt to be a solid draw in the smaller stage of BMI, which usually features promising acts worthy of attention.

4:30 p.m. Phoebe bridgers (Lady Bird): Nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys earlier this year (she lost to compatriot Megan Thee Stallion), the Los Angeles freelance singer-songwriter is one of the hottest rising stars. view of the festival. She has only released two albums, but both are of a quality that suggests Bridgers is a lifelong artist. She will also record the TV show “Austin City Limits” on October 7.

5:20 p.m. Missio (VRBO): After breaking through with the single “Middle Fingers” a few years ago, electronic duo Austin composed of Matthew Brue and David Butler quickly broadened their horizons with the impressive album “The Darker the Weather / The Better the Man ”in 2019. This year’s“ Skeletons ”, the third in a series of EPs, includes a shortened redesign of“ Do You Realize ”by Flaming Lips.

6:20 p.m. Modest mouse (Honda): One of the Pacific Northwest’s best-known indie rock bands for nearly three decades, Modest Mouse returned this summer with “The Golden Casket,” their first album in six years. The lineup has changed somewhat over the decades, but singer-guitarist Isaac Brock remains the group’s guiding creative force.

7:30 p.m. Daylight (VRBO): It seems significant to me that among the three of us who write regularly on a wide range of music for the Statesman / Austin360, we all enjoy Dayglow. Sloan Struble’s pop explorations at the University of Texas exploded into a full-fledged career that took him from a small stage appearance at ACL Fest 2019 to this much more publicized slot machine.

12:50 Amber mark (Lady Bird): A smoky voice, smooth R&B grooves seasoned with touches of bossa nova and hints of disco, and the most sultry cover of “Thong Song” you’ve ever heard. That sounds like everything you need to get your Saturday off to a good start.

13:35 Yendry (BMI): With a sly sensuality and a voice that hurts emotionally, the Dominican Italian singer is on the verge of a global breakthrough.

2:00 p.m. Moziah (Tito’s): sunny hip-hop and R&B rich in unexpected flourishes and soaring soul vocals.

3:20 p.m. Club AG (Miller Lite): The Bay Area hip-hop group is tailoring their crew power to styles ranging from melodic and introspective to vaguely menacing.

4:20 p.m. Phoebe bridgers (Lady Bird): The folk-rock star’s set drops in the middle of a full day of female performers on the Skyline Stage. What a time to live.

5:20 p.m. Gina Chavez (BMI): A jubilant Latin pop interlude.

6:20 p.m. Doja cat (Lady Bird): Rising from the bovine basement of the internet to become a chart-topping pop star, singer / rapper’s excellent 2021 release “Planet Her” is Lil Nas’ X-level argument for long-term viability of viral sensations.

7:20 p.m. Daylight (Vrbo): Pop genius genius and superfan Fred Rogers unleash the optimistic therapy your pandemic-stricken soul needs.

8:30 p.m. Billie Eilish (Lady Bird): The provocative pun of “Therefore I Am” and the climax of “Happier Than Ever” will eclipse the introspective, downtempo tunes of the pop superstar’s new album in an ACL Fest for the Ages.

12:05 Solarium (BMI): Beach rock vibes for your Friday night hangover. A little Best Coast meets Hunx & His Punx meets Parquet Courts, but on muscle relaxers. Weekend 1 only.

12:50 Françoise forever (Honda): Speaking of sunshine, listening to the dreamy Massachusetts spirit behind the viral hit “Space Girl” is a great way to continue chilling out until Saturday.

2:20 p.m. girl in red (Lady Bird): In the immortal words of Billy Eichner, let’s go lesbians! The lush melodies of Norwegian singer-songwriter Marie Ulven Ringheim have become synonymous with queer romance (and heartache) on the internet, and they are much harsher than they seem at first glance.

3:20 p.m. Remi Wolf (T-Mobile): Literally dare to listen to any song by this funk-pop Californian trickster and not smile from ear to ear, then back to ear again. (Sorry, gross.) Listen to “Monte Carlo” for a taste of the funky-funny gravy.

4:20 p.m. Phoebe bridgers (Lady Bird): We all know what 4:20 means… time to sob openly in a park, don’t we. With an army of dedicated “Pharbz” fans backing her, Bridgers quickly climbed the indie rock heap. “Motion Sickness” and “Kyoto” are the bangers, but the album’s slower cuts show a bit that Bridgers is the Joni Mitchell of his generation. (Is it okay to say it? We’ll say it.)

5:20 p.m. Gina Chavez (BMI): Spend your early evening with fearless talent here in Austin. Weekend 1 only.

6:20 p.m. Doja cat (Lady Bird): Does anyone write with the kind of spectacularly unbalanced mind Doja does these days? Probably, but these aren’t top of the list taking over TikTok every time they breathe, like Ms. Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini.

7:20 p.m. Daylight (Vrbo): What else can I say about Sloan Struble’s sunny and intelligent indie pop that we haven’t already written in these pages? His hometown hero’s “Fuzzybrain” made him a rising star, and this year’s “Harmony House” is one of the best albums of the year, a effervescent and wise collection of songs that will make you cry on the dance floor.

8:30 p.m. Billie Eilish (Lady Bird): Watching the reigning Empress of all the popular music at ACL Fest in 2019 was like watching a snake charmer in action, except the snakes were all sweaty kids in a park. Honestly, a little scared at how much her power has increased now.
