Middle Tennessee gets an “American Heartbreak” night this fall when singer-songwriter Zach Bryan headlines the FirstBank Amphitheater in Williamson County.

Bryan – a former Navy sailor who released his major label debut album “American Heartbreak” earlier this year – heads to the outdoor rock quarry at Thompson’s Station on Sept. 11 for his biggest ever headlining show. displayed in the region to date.

Country-folk artist Charles Wesley Godwin opens the show, according to a social media post Bryan posted on Tuesday. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. CST via firstbankamphitheatre.com.

Arguably the fastest growing country artist this year, Bryan’s 34-song “American Heartbreak” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart in late May. He plays at the FirstBank Amphitheater after a headliner at Ryman Auditorium last year and an appearance at Bonnaroo earlier this summer.

Bryan’s growing popularity comes as he emerged from an unlikely DIY success story that has already turned heads with one-take YouTube uploads and recorded songs with his buddies on Guitar Center gear. in an Airbnb. Now, Bryan plays sold-out shows that draw feverish fans ready to sing along with every syllable of the singer’s trademark songwriting.

Ranging from demo-like ruminations to full-blown heart rock anthems, “American Heartbreak” captures an untamed restlessness and blurry-eyed angst that endears Bryan to a largely young and passionate audience.

And it’s not his only release this year. In an uncommon move, Bryan follows his three-album debut with a nine-song EP “Summertime Blues,” released Friday via Warner Records.

Of his songwriting, Bryan told The Tennessean last year, “I feel like it’s a songwriter’s job to analyze whatever’s on his mind and show the world how he interpreted it. And maybe someone else can interpret it the same way. There’s so many things… going on around you all the time and which are so hard to explain. By writing songs, you can do your best and hope that people will relate.”
